Alrighty guys I have finally freed up some time to swap my new ka and m/t transmission into the vert. Basically I just have a couple of last minute questions to make sure I have everything I need.

I am swapping out of a 92 hicas hatch w/abs into my 93 convertible. I also plan on using my jwt manual non-abs ecu with my new motor.

1. I have the driveshaft from the hatch and as far as I have seen I could easily leave the output shaft on the transmission, disconnect the rest of the shaft and just rebolt it to the rest of my auto driveshaft. This would be quite convenient as I could really do without the whole hicas diff swap right now. Can anyone confirm this?

2. I have a complete lower harness and was just wondering if it is just plug and play. I read through the whole a/t to m/t vert swap guide and the best I could come up with is that I still would have to rig the top to go up and down. Anyone have any comments on this?

3. The only difference I have been able to come up with so far between the motors themselves is the throttle position sensor. The manual tps has only one clip and the auto tps has 2 (presumably to engage a downshift when wot is detected). Will I be able to just leave this second harness unplugged or is this going to create problems for me?

4. Has anyone had any major setbacks during engine removal? The hatch everything is coming out of is a complete rustbucket but the convertible is in pristine condition. Any tips here would be greatly appreciated.

5. I was looking at some pictures related to the drilling of holes for the clutch and was wondering if it would be possible to use 3/8 and 1 1/2 punches rather then a holesaw to get the holes ready to go. Anyone know if this is a possibility? (keeping in mind I'll have the engine out giving me full access to the firewall)

Thats all I wanted to ask for now. Thanks in advance for any responses

dude you making it sound harder then what it is.ka motors beside the s14 ka a/t or m/t are the same, different lower harness which is still not needed 100%.you can leave the a/t harness all u need is the speed sensor wires and reverse sensor wires.im doin this swap this weekend if the weather permits me to. and im goin to do a write up as well with alots pics.to help fellow vert owner with there swaps.

I swapped my whole engine in from a coupe into my vert instead of doing just the transmission swap.

1. Unsure...I swapped the whole shaft off my coupe onto the vert from the transmission to the diff.

2. I have the lowering harness from the coupe but you still need to splice the wiring for alternator, reverse light, and park/top wiring. You can connect the positioning sensors if you wish from the manual transmission.

3. I am currently running with one of the tps unplugged with an auto ecu. I will be changng the engine harness and ecu from the manual coupe soon.

4. The only draw back to me was the fluids (very messy) and the wiring since I thought I only needed to wire the reverse and park/top wires. My car would always had to be jump started and then I realized my alternator wiring wasn't connected.

5. It's better to do the hole saw and I did it a while before I swapped engines. It very easy with a hole saw.

Well the swap is a success. Only problem I'm having now is that my car seems to pulse at constant speeds. The rpm and speed stay the same but it feels like the car pulls back every couple of seconds. Anyone have any thoughts?

Problem was power apparently. I installed flex-a-lite fans when i did the swap and now get pulsing if the fans and stereo are on a the same time. Anyone seen any good 240sx alternator upgrades?
