Doing plugs, wires, fuel filter and oil change in my 89 240sx.

I jsut did the fuel filter and I have a question. Stupid me did not pay attention when removing the old one so, which way is up?

The way i have it now is with OUT facing up, since I figured gas comes in from the bottom and out the top to the fuel rail/injectors....

correct?

so today i did plugs, wires, fuel filter, and changed the oil/oil filter.

tomorrow i'll be gutting the interior and cleaning her out. :) shes peppier than i thought (when i bought the car i could only start her and move her around, never actually took her for a test drive, but hey, she was 500 canadian :) )

EDIT: when doing the plugs n wires i found that there was one BOSCH spark plug, a 3 NGK plugs....the first plus closest to the front was blackened pretty good.

damn this car is SO MUCH easier to work on than my 96 Trans Am.

That single Bosch plug was killing you. German parts+Japanese car=problem.

Another question, do the older 240sx's have a weird rev limiter? I've searched the archives and found little about it. but last night when i was going about 50-60 mph in 5 th as i kept my foot down and the car in 5th after a bit it seemed like the car didn't want to go. the rpms started falling and i didn't know what was going on.

i started to pull over, as i was putting in the clutch and then after a few seconds she started revving freely again and i took off in 4th...

i found the procedure to get rid of this is not really known to work well...

BTW , how many miles do you have on your 240? Have you considered using some Seafoam on it? If you dont know what seafoam is trying using the Search button. Thor has a good thread on it.

Oh i read many many things on seafoam, can't get it here in Canada. I'll be ordering directly from a place online. :)

EDIT: she has 172K Kilometers on her. So thats just a tad over 100K miles :)

Bobby Wu: NAPA can not get the seafoam, I've tried diligently to get it and they have no way of bringing it in.

I thought I had posted this information, but at least now you know.

Theres a couple of webpages you can get it from, try doing a search on here. I'd post the link I had but I left it at work...sorry

lbrowne about that rev limiter i have heard many things about it but not really enough info to give feedback on it. all i can say is that when i get bored and stuff and drive it hard ill do 110 in fifth and no problem the tach moves pretty slowly thats the closest i have incountered with that.-edgar
