doing a head swap: need tech advice plz

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

My little brother was driving his 92 with the ka24de when the timing chain snapped. havent torn it apart yet, but im hoping all ill need to replace is the head(dont want to pull valves) and replace the chain. any more info or advice will be appreciated. what kind of damage should i expect to see?

havent done a head swap on a motor with a broken chain before... from someone who has, can it be fixed with just a new head?

check your pistons and make sure they dont have too much damage to the tops or this will cause hotspots otehrwise yes just switch heads and new timing gear
