Doing a Clutch to Electric Fan Conversion Need a Little Help

ok i have an 89 240sx ka24e. i bought an electric fan and a relay kit so i dont have to ghetto rig a toggle, the relay has a wiring diagram that makes the install easy on wire to pos battery terminal one to negative then wires for the fan. but the wire that makes it all work says it goes to thermostat switch. where is that on the motor???? is it the same thing as the engine temperatue switch?
