i driven both

to tell you the truth the dohc pulls but you dont feel it but it'll keep going from 40-110(electronicly limited) in 5th no problem it dosent slow down on the accelaction.

now the Sohc, you could feel the pull but you dont see the accelaction like the dohc.

now that before i turbo my sohc the turbo motor pulls alot harder and it goes.

another option from getting a sohc is rebuilding that dohc with sohc piston for that high compression 11.1 . just get new piston, valves, bearings and a gasket set remember to get your head resurfaced. and this should be done in less than a week.

wait for a dual cam motor. you have to change the wiring and power steering lines. plus if your car has to pass emmissions it may not pass because your putting an older motor into a newer car which is generally a no no. dohc ka's arent THAT hard to find. i come across them all the time.

and i have driven both sohc and dohc. dohc wins hands down unless its not up to par.

Stick with the DOHC, less hassle. Go to car-part.com and you will find many ka24de's.

well my dual cam stomped every single slammer ive ever raced back when i was stock. they are pretty peppy down low but the dual cam has a little more top end. if your replacing a blown single cam imo its worth it. might as well since your havin the motor out anyways. but i agree if you got a good one to begin with might as well just boost it. they are both good motors.

Did you even try checking the site, most yards will extend a warrantee and be very promising. Although, I wont argue with you. Done trying to save idiots money. Just go ahead and disreguard any reputable sites anyone tries to help you with. Hey why dont you replace it with a single slammer...

BTW, if engines are too expensive in Vegas, then order one out of state and have it shipped in.

oh and the reason it was down for a year and a half is cuz i had my boy start on it, and whenever its done at someones house and its not their motor, it always takes forEVER. thats why i pulled it out of his place and had my coworkers do it. shouldve gone that route in the first place, but at the time i was jumpin from shop to shop trying to keep a stable job. hard to do when everyone is goin out of business. but this shop isnt goin anywhere anytime soon.

CAR-PART.COM

This is a database and listing for junkyards around the country. They provide mileage for most and some offer warrantees. Search, call, buy, install. Although if you are rebuilding, then search. Thats a whole other animal.
