dohc swap help (wiring)

so heres the situationi have an 89 with a blown engine, a good transmission, and a great bodyi have a 91 with a great engine, an auto transmission, and a rusted through body.so it only makes sense to cross the two.

we pulled out the engine tonight, no biggie. i have to take pictures of what the a$$ previous owner accomplished in his ride (think two piston holes on one side, a golfball sized hole on the opposite side, and a blown open oil pan)i have the wiring harness in the engine bay isolated, and i was hoping that it was the same as the old ford style where it was a single plug for everything in the engine bay, but of course that would have been too easy.id like to do it the right way, so i dont want to cut wires, keeping my harness intact, but at the same time, i dont want to open up the dash only to find out it was all a waste, as something doesnt work between the engines, and i have to cut anyway.if anyone has any info on this, how to work it/get around it, let me know please, itd be extremely helpfulthanks in advance

You have to unplug the engine harness completely from the 91.

Install this harness into the 89 including the ECM from the 91.

There is one connector under the dash that needs to be cut and soildered. I think it is either white or brown and has 13 wires. Only 5 or 6 need to be re-connected.

I'll try to find which ones or if if I can't fine them i'll check my car.

like he said, swap the entire harness, including the computer. dont cut any of the main harness. above the ECU theres a small harness that goes up into the dash, its like 13ish wires, take the old one and the new one, cut both in half. take the new ECU half, and the old dash half, and match the colors. only like 7 will match up, thats all you need. connect the 7 colored wires that are the same, and youre done.

yeah, i have the whole harness sourced to the ecu, and i noticed that some wires bypass the ecu and go up into the dash.do you guys know where those wires go? and why i only need 7 of the 13? the other 6 are there for something, right?

the rest are diagnostics, which you wont have after the swap. they go about 3 inches into the dash, and plug into another harness.
