dohc or sohc

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Car: '89 Nissan 240SX coupe S13

I keep hearing that the 89' 240sx has a SOHC instead of a DOHC is that true because I was thinking of later putting in a CA18DET or a SR20DET an I also heard that if the engine is a DOHC the installation will be easier.

any 1991+ 240sx is dohcany earlier models are sohc

and yes if you have a DOHC... the SR swaps are alot easier to install due to the KA24DE wiring harness having most of the sensors as the SR does.

its not the sensors.. The dohc has the a/c and powersteering lines that you will need to run those accessories on the sr. It also has the gauge cluster you need for the guages to be operable. Same thing for the sohc and the ca swap. Trannies are the same on both the sohc and dohc, so the speed sensor and everything on the lower harness is the same

one thing i didn't mention.. sorry..i'm a 240 with no a/c... damn canadians... but you did mention sensors as i justified up there :)

Altiman94 so if you got a SOHC its easier to a CA18DET then a SR20
