hi i just swapped in a 96 KA24DE into my 89 240 coupe 2 weeks ago,and whenever i try to start the car, it doesnt want to start, and i have to give it gas in order to get it started. And when it first starts,it chugs for a second until i give it gas, then it runs.Even when its running it still feels a little sluggish.Ive been told the starting problem could be something to do with my cold start. Please help,i am out of ideas.thanks.

If it runs, then you turn it off for a few minutes.. maybe even half an hour, crank it and it does the same thing - not cold start problem (since engine is warm).

Have you checked things such as fuel pressure, timing, compression, even spark plugs/wires, tps/idle?

Yea check your timing(and on the distribuer) and make sure your spark plug wires are in the right order.
