Does your 2006 or newer M make noises?

So I've been thinking about possibly buying an Infiniti in the not to distance future. But one thing I must always know about the vehicle I'm interested in... is how noisy is it after you've lived with it for awhile? Some vehicles tend to make lots of noises while others are virtually noise-free. And since I'm not all that familiar with Infiniti's and didn't see a whole lot of posts about noises, I thought I'd create a poll!

Basically, I'm curious to see how many folks with 2006 or newer Infiniti M35/45's have experienced noises? By noises I mean any interior creaks, rattles, pops, vibrations, etc that occur inside the cabin. This could be the seats, dash, sunroof, or anything really.

And if you did have noises, were they resolved by the dealer? Any other comments regarding the exact noises are welcome!

The M35x is kinda "noisy".The M45 is super quiet. In fact the only car in its class that is quieter is the numb Lexus GS430...by about 2 decibels!!

I'm a noise & vibration engineer, and I am really picky when it comes to noise in cars. My 06 M35X is really quiet and tight. Wind noise on the freeway is low, without any annoying whistles. Tire noise is a bit high, but I blame that on the crappy RS-A's. Intake and exhaust noise have been tuned to provide a feeling of power, and may be a little excessive at times. There are three annoying noises I can think of, and these are minor: some sort of gear noise coming from the engine or input to the transmission that you can hear changing pitch up and down with engine speeds below 2500 rpm; the often-discussed noise when turning right at slow speeds; and a small rattle in the dash that comes and goes when it's cold. All of this aside, I am really quite happy with not just the noise level, but the character of the sound in the car as well.

Good luck with your decision!

Mine has resonation in the front dash paneling on the passenger side that comes out every once in a while.

Also have some wind noise on the driver's side, I think a small area of the door seal isn't sitting correctly and I'll get some wind noise on occasion. Other than that, both my infiniti's are great on noise, even the QX4 at 10 years going!

What I like about the M35x is the AWD, the fit and finish and the exterior lines... a very good looking car. What I dislike, road noise and exhaust note... I like quiet. I know it might be sacrilage to say that in this forum, but I really would like to buy a M35x, yet I can't get over the noise issue.

Are there things that can be done to the M35x to quiet it down, ie, different exhaust, different tires, some strategically placed insulation?

Thx

This survey was a curse!!! Two days after I complete it my M35 developed a buzzing in the dash pannel on the passenger side. Anyone have any ideas what it might be?

The M is known to have dash rattles. There is a mod kit available at the dealer. I don't know any more about it, or even if they actually sell the kit, or you have to give your car to them for repair.
