Does this sound stupid?

My front bumper paint has been chipped off for several months now... Do you guys think the car would look retarded if I just stripped the bumper and left it black? or is that too weird. My 240 is red and I still have the black side stripes on it.

It would look wierd if you rear bumper was red...You need to balance out the colours or else people are going to think your a crack head...

On the other hand people may also just think that your working on it... and that the project hasn't been completed yet..

I feel the pain.I was involved in a 5-car pile-up and I was at the tail end of it all.Now, my front bumper now has chipped paint AND scrathes.How depressing!!!

Like you, I'm biding my time and saving my nickels for a good paint job.

Leather aren't meant to go on the outside of a car... only on the interior... i dont care how good it looks... it always looks better without.

is it so bad that you can't fix it w/touch up paint? Maybe sand it down and put a couple cans of red spray paint, until you can afford a whole new paint job, it may look better than a black front bumper. That will kinda stand out, and make it look like you are either too cheap or too lazy to paint the front bumper. Just my opinion, i really could care less about an unfinished paint job

I'll paint it this fall when the heat and humidity go down. (Won't have to mess with retarder to slow the drying time that way.)

Its not a lazy issue...just from painting airplanes this summer, its just drying to fast to make the job look good and we don't have a good indoor place to paint. Its just a waiting game....until then i'm going nuts over the bumper. :jump (Picky 240 owner.)

I think it'll look like an unfinished repair job. I think you have the right plan. Be patient and do the paint job right when the heat/humidity drops. Regards
