This is my first post on this forum and im pretty knew to most of this stuff. I am 17 and have only had my licsense for about 10 months but ive known that i wanted a 300zx for about three years now. I have been saving up money during this time and have a decent amount now, and ive been looking for the right car. I came across this car for sale on craigslist and it seems to be a pretty good deal. Everything looks to be in really good condition. However the guy says that although the car runs and drives, it does not accelerate as it should but insteal really slowly. I was wondering if you guys have any advice on this problem and whether or not you think it is worth 3200. Thanks

That looks to be in really rough shape. The front lip is missing on the front bumper. That seems really weird to be having a big problem at 54k miles, makes it seem he doesn't take care of it. Depending on what the problem is, I wouldn't give more than $3k for it, considering it does have pretty low mileage.

Thanks for the advice. Has anyone ever heard of this kind of problem where it doesnt accelerate as it should? I would think its just a messed up transmission, somethin along those lines right?

It could be many many different things. "It doesn't accelerate correctly" is a very broad description. It could be as simple as the spark plugs needing to be replaced to the engine needing to be rebuilt.

Freakonaleash,I am gonna hopefully head over to the guys house this saturday and take a look at the car. Are there any things that you can think of that stand out alot that i should look for in the Z?I know of the obvious things i should look for like dents, rips, etc, but ive never driven a 300zx before so any input would be helpful. thanks

you could always have a professional tech look at it. if the owner is ok with it. possibly find out what's wrong and either walk away from the deal or talk him down a bunch.

good luck, man

^^^ Agreed. If possible, take the car to a reliable mechanic and have them check it out. With the problem it has, it should be checked out by a guy who knows Z's. Try to find a local Z buff and see if they will help you.

that doesnt mean he knows his way around z's anyone who says they're into the "tuner scene" probably knows more about civics, integras, and rsx's then he does about any sports cars... its very hard to find someone who truly knows there way around z32's, but atleast you dont have a 3000gt those things are a ***** to work on or find anyone who works on them!!! but as far as the deal goe's i say go for it as long as you find out whats wrong, could be just a slipping clutch
