There is a shop in Dallas that carries Japanese engines and trannies that are imported from japan. Originally I called to get a quote on an 85 300zx turbo engine complete and they said $650! Well long story short, I never got the Z so I went no farther on buying the engine. I have decided on buying a 240sx now, don't have one yet but plan on getting a very cheap one, doesn't matter miles or anything because I plan on doing an SR20DET swap into it. I just called them up today and they have the S13 Redtop for $995 with everything I need except ECU. They also had a black top S13 engine/transmission WITH the ECU and everything I would need to do the swap into the 240 for only $1050!!!!! They assured me it had less than 40k miles on it and has been tested and such to be good. Sounds like a great deal to me, what do you think?

Less than 40K miles? Ask them how they can "assure" you of that.

I'd get a compression and leak-down test performed at the VERY least, then post the #'s in the SR forum for evaluation. If it checks out, there's a good deal.

Ok guys, i can give u the number they claim same day shipping on all their products as well. They are very reputable because when I was going to get a Z I spend a couple of weeks talking to the local guys who have Z's and they said that they get their stuff from them and its good. Of course they probably can't prove that all the engines have less than 40k on them, but more than likely, anything out of japan should have less than 40k (its actually a law there from what i've read where u have to replace your car once you get past 40k miles) Here is the exerpt from their ad i found:All Japanese Engines & Transmissions Low Mileage Solid Warranty Same Day Shipping

That is total myth. I hope I'm not coming off as mean, but what you just said is very false.

The question is are they really "Low Milage" cars. If it's in a clip then I'd say thats pretty reliable, but just an engine would be damn near impossible to tell the milage. :batman

Good point, skwerel.

It'll be interesting to see what they say about compression tests.

yeah cause they asked if i wanted either a s13 redtop or blacktop, they knew cause they even said s13 or s14. the s14 motor was 3200 so i pretty much decided against that one

ok so i just called them heres what i found out, the S13 SR20DET is 995 and comes with Turbo, transmission and piping with IC doesn't come with wires or ECU though, also, they said they don't have records or proof that the motors have less then 45k miles on them they do have a warranty for 30 days, they don't have any CA or RB series though, and the VG30DETT is 1550... interesting =)

Not such a great deal after all, is it.

30 day warranty doesn't do you much good if you have to go through the hassle of unwiring and pulling the engine, shipping it back, waiting for a replacement, reinstalling and rewiring...

well guys i plan on going to dallas soon so i will swing by their shop and check it all out, i'll probably be able to tell if anything is fishy. If i go i'm gonna see if they can run one of the engines jus to prove that it is usable, they have an engine testing section on the web site but its underconstruction. oh, the engine you called that is 995 is the red top, the black top though is 1050 and comes with the ECU
