I have a chance to get this stuff for like $1700. I think it is a bit high, but what do you think? Garrett T3/T4 .48 AR Turbine .50 AR Compressor (I chose 57 Trim Stage III Wheel) by Turbonetics- tubular stainless steel manifold (had a machine shop make relief cuts on the mounting flange, in between each runner to allow for better thermal expansion)- 3" downpipe w/ o2 sensor bung (had an additional bung welded on for wideband 02, plus coated dp in turbo black thermal coating)- 38mm External Wastegate (came w/ 1 bar spring - big blue, also have 7.25 PSI spring - small green)- 2.25" Stainless Steel Intercooler Piping- intercooler w/ extruded Garrett Core 24" X 6" x 2.75"- FMU w/ 12:1 Disc- 38mm Recirculating BOV- Stainless Oil Feed, Return and Fittings- Air Intake Filter w/ Maf Adapter- Silicone Boots for IC piping

if he was using an fmu i think you should be asking him how long ago he blew up and what exactly failed so you can have a clue what still may be usable. i also sencond the fact that, that is too much for used parts.

Kinda on the high side. $1200 would be what I would pay.

cool. I will see if he wants to renegotiate. This kit is a boost designs kit that was adjusted to work properly.

Most people here would agree that the KA requires a .63 A/R turbine side. The .48 will be too restrictive.

after hearing what you guys are saying I think I will just keep my ear to the ground unless the price gets really good. I was kinda settling if I bought this anyway. Its not the turbo I want, I dont want to recirculate my BOV. I don't really want to run an FMU, I would rather have a more robust fuel solution. Anyway, if anyone knows where I can get equivalent parts please let me know. Thanks.

I have the turbo if you're interested. Check the FS T3/T04E thread for pictures.

Not necessarily true. The .48 will spool faster, which is perhaps what some folks are after, ie. autoX, drifting, gymkhana. Plus, a comparitively larger A/R turbine can be detrimental when you're running a smaller boost setup anyway. In this case, it's better to get into the boost quicker and produce a broader, flatter torque curve. Also, the type of manifold used can have a much more pronounced effect on the performance differences between varying turbine A/R sizes.

You're recommending a specific turbine A/R...and then later, the turbo specs you recommend just happen to match the turbo you have for sale. Interesting.

People have been running FMUs for a long time now...longer than a lot of the people on this forum have been alive. It's true that you can blow a motor with an FMU. But you can blow a motor running an SAFC just as easily. For a low boost setup, ie 7 PSI max, where you don't have to worry about major timing adjustments, a properly sized FMU works very well. I've run an FMU and datalogged hours and hours of AFR, RPMS, boost, and injector duty to say that you can run an FMU just fine without risk of blowing a motor. It's not ideal for a track setup, but then again alot of people are only after a little boost for their daily driver and an FMU makes sense in this case.
