I had to get new rear tires today, but I wasn't able to go. My girlfriend went. She called me and told me that the dudes at the tire place said I need to have my brakes adjusted because they are on backwards. WTF? I asked to talk to the mechanic and he said that my rotors are reversed. Is that actually possible? I have brembo cross drilled rotors. I didn't install them, and I haven't really looked at them, but I am pretty certain that they look the way they are supposed to. Anyway. I was just wondering if it is actually possible to install a rotor backwards or on the wrong side. This is stupid, but sometimes you just don't know.

Sounds like crap to me. There may be a "right" way to have the slots facing for slotted rotors, but for crossdrilled I can't see why it would make a difference, unless the cooling vanes in the rotor are directional.

It is possible in the same way that you can have a directional tire mounted backwards.

Thats the most important part IMO.

There was some discussion about which way slotted rotors should face. Brembo recommended a certain way, but plenty of other sources said the opposite. I think the concensus was that it didnt make a huge difference.

I think the direction of cross drilled rotors matters much less. They are usually drilled in a directional pattern, but if slotted discs can go either way, I'd say drilled discs can too.

My girlfriend said my brakes were the center of attention. They had the entire staff over there looking at the car in awe. They couldn't believe the holes went a different direction then the ones they saw on The Fast and the Furious.

Get your car home NOW. Never send your girlfriend to get tires again, and never to back to that place.

Calm down! its not rocket science to put new tires on. They may not know anything about brakes, but I'm sure they can do tires. Geez.

I wont be going back to the place again, but not because they are idiots. Because they charged me 56 dollars in fees to buy 2 $50 tires. The total for the tires was like 99.98 and the total was $155.90. Ridiculous. They did good with the tires though. The guy that had the car before me painted the wheels and forgot to take the balancing weights off, so when I got the front tires put on there are now silver spots where the weights were. The guys tried to put the weights on the old spots.

No, it was Tire Kingdom. This place was a joke. They couldn't get a tire on a 20 inch rim that someone bought, they had to have someone from antother shop come and fit it.
