Does this race sound right to you?

Ok,my buddy has an '89 240SX with injen intake,Apexi N1 exhaust,hotshot header and 5 speed....I have a bootleg intake,OBX header,HKS Hi Power exhaust and am an auto. Well,me and him raced from a light tonite and he got me off the line,but I started pulling in first,past him in second ,holdind in 3rd and then he starts catching up in his 4th from my rear bumper,and as his 4th and my 4th are half way threw,he only has a foot in front of me.....does this sound right? Is my auto supposed to be this close to his 5 speed? Are cars are almost exactly alike if this adds anything.

It could be cause your car is DOHC.the little bit of horsepower can make the difference. Your car could have been maintained better too.

But is he DOHC? it doesn't say his year anywhere but his buddies sohc is the only year posted x_o

I have a DOHC and he has a SOHC..but one cam wouldn't make that much of a difference would it?

nearly identical cars, and one has about 10 more hp, that would certainly boost you up a notch. hehe, i just got the twin cam engine into my '89, i should know
