I have a friend with a 4-spd auto 1991 5.0 LX mustang. It runs really well and all the time were finding out more stuff he actually had done to it. I've comfirm his car has the following and estimate nothing more but if you guys think so he might be hiding more mods:

Custom C/A intake w/ K&N cone filterCeramic headersDual 2.5" exhaustNew posi rear-end running "closer than stock" gears. (not sure on the numbers)

He also had installed a chip from superchips but had lists of problems and removed it completely. He now runs a stock chip.

Last time out at the track it ran 14.7 @ 95MPH outrunning my 91' 240SX of 15.2@92.

Can't wait to do the transmission swap and push 6.5PSI or more through my motor. Maybe I'll have to pull his own tricks on him and deny the hiss as being nothing more than my open intake peeking from behind the front bumper.

Sounds about right. If the headers are long-tube, they're worth significant power on the 5.0s.

15.2 on your 240? what all is done to it.

if the mustang was manual he would be running better numbers I think. but 14.7 isn't bad for an auto

I'm not sure if the stock auto's had different gears.but it could have either 2.73 (not likely) 3.08 (highly likely)if he put in 3.55 gears.. it should be doing better than 14.7.

I've never really known the manual to outrun the Auto by much in 5.0 racing... I've only seen a couple run that were totally honest with their mods and they seem to run very very close.

I don't have much done to my 91' S13.

-No A/C-C/A intake-2.5" exhaust-Cams-Ignition advance-205/60R15 Falcon Ziex with 2WD launches on the grippy track as apposed to 1WD despite my non-locking rear end.

To say the least my car runs as good or better than I thought it would.

I was just reading about some guy on here that says he did 15.4 or 15.5 with a Stock heavy S14... That I don't quite believe but maybe close to that in a stock S13.
