I bought the SPEC stage 2 clutch, heres some pics:

Whats with the suede-like material on the clutch disc? The last pic is a close-up of it. It really feels like leather and looks like its glued to cardboard.

Has anyone actually seen one in person and can verify this is how it is supposed to be? It looks and feels pretty cheap. I hope its not a rip off, good thing I used my credit card company for it just in case...

i duunnoooooooo.... looks like shady dealings to me. but then again i was plugging the cusco copper single/kayaba/toda copper single from the get go. you can always try it if you have spare time and/or can afford to have to take it back out in 20 miles. if you think its sketch i would return it and go with something god-fearing.

edit: oh yeah, i would like to mention that my friend has a spec clutch on his cj7 and it sucks nuts.

I noticed several differences personally. I emailed the company pics, so I hope they at least have a straight answer.

It would totally suck if I got the bait and switch.

Take it to a local spec dealer and ask for their input.

That's a spec stg 2. I got one of those with my motorset but I ended up selling it and getting a centerforce dual friction instead based on reviews of both. Anyhow, that's how the disks are. Its a carbon/kevlar disk. That soft stuff is just the kevlar material that helps to make a smooth engagement.

that fuzzy stuff is the kevlar side. It is completely normal, I have the same clutch and it is fine. Grabs really strong.
