what?just mark the cam angle sensor so you dont loose your timing

remove the 3 bolts on the CAS, then remove the smaller bolts holding on the upper cover. theres like 5 or so. really easy.

How long has this been like this for? I doubt its been like that for a while otherwise it would of got in the way of your timing belt.

**** your online now. Why dont you just walk outside or w/e the car is and take that cover off and take care of the problem. Take pics too!

Not nearly as scary as the "look but don't touch" sticker you got with your last summit racing order!

Looks like the bolts broke and the spring in the cam gear slammed the came gear bolts and cover out. Theres probably going to oil all over the inside...

That is for sure what happened. You can clearly see the four bolt marks from the cam gear cover. That is going to be a huge mess and I'd plan on buying a couple cans of degreaser and a bundle of shop towels while you're at it.

Have you noticed that your motor is low on oil?

Did you just get this engine? Has it been installed and driven yet?

My guess is that projeks13 just got this motor shipped to him. I think something impacted the front of the engine in shipping. Look at the dent in the first picture between the upper and lower bolt marks. I think the motor impacted something and that forced the timing cover into the cam bolts.

Either way, you need to take the timing cover off.. it's not hard. Once you do you will know much more. If theres oil all over... see bluefires response.

You might be able to pound out the dents with a hammer... or just get a new cover.

If it was from an impact... You'll want to make sure the cam gear isn't damaged. I'm also not sure if the cam or valve train can be damaged by getting shoved to far into the head????

eikon's got it right i'm thinkin the engine was impacted during shipping (it hasn't been started yet thank god) but yea i took a hammer and pounded out the cover so it looks like it'll fit now there wasn't any oil inside the cover so thats good.
