So for some reason, my radiator decided to break itslef after driving around one day. I was running my heater, and I smelled coolant. So i looked at the temp gauge and it was rising. I pulled over and i popped the hood. I saw the upper radiator hose dangling there dripping coolant. I was like "OH NOES!"

This is what happend.-

Damn plastic neck broke.

I got a new radiator and all, this time an all aluminum one, but those chunks broke off into the hose. Is there any significant chance of them beeing in the block and blocking anything off? Probably not, but i just wanna be sure.

Yes, you shoud reverse flush the engine.

I cant believe you thought something like this would just go away...

Well most of the chunks were still in the hose. I dont think much, if any were really sucked in. It tought the water goes from the block, through the upper radiator hose through the radiator and then up the lower hose and back into the block? Or is it the opposite? I caught some of the plasitc pieces floating around the top of the rad. when i filled it up for the hell of it after taking it out.

No noticible problems now, but should i worry about any long term problems?

There are small channels in the block up near the cylinder head that pieces could get stuck in.

You have to flush the system, i dont think you have any choice in this matter.

You cant mickey mouse this sh*t man, seriously.

I agree with 2BN_S13 this is something i would take highly serious, and blockage in the coolant lines = no more mr piston.

I have had that happen twice. Luckily, I had enough of a neck to retighten the hose clamp and move up the radiator hose.

Nice wristband, my mom use to wear them in the 80s

Ok so due to the advice given here, i flushed out the block twice. Besides some dirty looking water coming out it didnt seem to bad. The car is running all laggy like normal, so i guess its fine. Didnt think something as small as smoe plastic debris would be able to completley mess up my engine.

I got those wristbands at Hot Topic like last year. I was lucky though, cause like 2 weeks later they stopped carrying them. Now if only someone would make those seatbelt style belts for pants, ones that say Nissan instead of GM or Ford. Hell, they sell Acura ones, why not Nissan...
