Everytime i work on my car, fixed the current problem and then something else new pops up and have to fix that too. Today i changed my motormounts and after that my teacher was checking my engine and telling me I would need a new water pump too.Sighz, parts ain't cheap man. Also the transmission mount i ordered from autozone didn't fit on my 91 240 fast back, they said the computer showed up is this one but it just don't fit for some reason.

Nope. I've had my '91 fastback since March 2001, and since then i've only had to change the brake pads and get a new timing chain installed (i got such an amazing deal - it cost me $82.00).

However, i think my struts are starting to go so i'll fix that problem in the spring.

It depends on your tensioners, earlier cars tend to have more problems then the later. Sometimes stock chains last 200k miles, but usually somewhere in the 150k region they will need to be changed if for nothing more than safety sake.

Also, you have to take into account your car is probably over a decade old, minimum. Also, the previous owner isn't/wasn't an enthusiast like you, so they don't take care of everything and/or notice things like an enthusiast would.

Enjoy your day!

My car had 262,000kms when i changed the chains. It all depends on how well they have been maintained. However, i HIGHLY suggest keeping a watch on it... chains DO break. If you hear a rattling coming from your engine, don't ignore it.

is it hard to change the timing chain? i have a rattling noise in my engine but sound like it's coming from the top could it be the rocker arms instead?

Alot of times you'll hear like a ticking noise coming from just under the valve cover from the valves. Mine has a slight tick from this, so does my friend's gs-t.

Timing chains aren't extremely hard. but if you're not too skilled in automotive work I would let a shop do it. It's important to get that thing on there right or there could be overwhelming damage done to your car.

Well, the guy had my car for about 7 days.... i don't know exactly what was involved, but the nissan dealership here quoted me $1,800 (canadian). It's not a cheap/easy job :)

Why not buy the CA18 now and part out your ka24? You'll get some extra money :)

It can be:

a) timing chainb) timing chain cover (broken plastic)c) rocker armsd) lifters (possibly)

In any case, get it checked out!
