I see many NICO people posting issues they are having. Many of us NICO owners post numerous help replies and never hear the final outcome from the original poster. We took an interest in their problems, offered our best advice and never hear about the final solution. This is rude, as I am interested in the final solution as it may apply to me today or down the road. I thought that was the purpose of this site.

I'm with you. And not only that, but it prevents me from maintaining the FAQ thread I created.

Yea brother I agree if I give someone 10 minutes of my time finding links posting them up telling them what to do step by step I wouldn't mind seeing a follow up. Plus it would cut down on repeated topics.

One of the other mods said this a while back and its really true if you think about it:

There are members, lurkers, users, contributers, sponsors and staff.

You are a contributer which we thank you alot for being one. Everytime you share information, help someone, or just give your opinon in a thread you are helping grown Nico club into a bigger stronger family so thanks. :bigthumb:

If we help members sometimes they will eventually become contributers...Some times the users may just be a little shy and after they are around for a little bit they may start posting... But some users may never contribute and thats just the sad truth. :frown:

Yup, quite annoying, however, many of these new members may never know you replied since e-mail notifications for thread updates don't work.

Thank you guys. I wish there was a way to demand an answer or solution that the poster thought was a problem. I am now becoming somewhat reserved to offer an help to any question about issues I may have some knowledge about. It really gets to me regards of who posts to problem to not know the final solution.

it's not just the new comer that's doing it; it's also the old timer as well. to be honest, the M35/45 owners are not much of a DIY type owner. most here are on their elite warranty so they tend to throw their car back to the dealer for service.
also there are some who love to show off their goodies but never share how to do it. Another problem is there are too many forums for the M owners, there's freshalloy, and mscene and this one; at the same time, enthusiast/owners are still the same amount which divided the community.

I totally agree with everything stated in this thread. Further, what I love even more is when you take the time to post up some info, someone (who hasn't posted up any info) says "well why did you do it that way, this way would work better, cheaper, etc".

It takes alot of time to take pics, upload, write up and edit any FAQ for even a seemingly small mod. I appreciate everyone that takes the time to do so. If you see something that helps you, for gawd's sake, give the OP some props!

I never thought about it in that context but I see your point. Definitely a discussion worth a while.

I wonder how many registered owners here have been active on the board more frequently. Many members come here for a quick answer and that's it. And some sell their vehicle after a year or two and don't even bother to get involved in "how to" and stuff.

I see it this way...As a help someone with an issue, I also learn a thing or two about it. So we both win in some way.

Great subject!! I agree completely... That's the reason I joined this forum and ONLY this forum!! I felt welcomed and helped so in return I try to help out with anything I can... I even go as far as thanking those that do post results and outcomes to their issues after taking advice from those of us who try to help!! Hope this improves..... :bigthumb:

Which brings up another point. Half of the time when a person asks for help, the answer is "take it to the dealer" and I'm not sure if it's because everyone has wararnty or because no one is DIY, but since that is the answer for most real problems (except for two or three problems that are posted over and over in spite of solutions being available), it's probably safe to assume that a lot of the people who don't post how they fixed it don't know. A follow-up would be nice, but the amount of dependence on dealers is awful.

It definitely doesn't make it to my e-mail account. I thought I posted about this somewhere and had a mod acknowledge an issue once, but I couldn't find that. However, I did find this:
post6189996.html?hilit=notification#p6189996 and it indicates I may not be the only one. My mail server doesn't do any anti-spam, (I have the options turned off), and I definitely do not get notifications in my Outlook junk (I would have to have not seen hundreds of them and I don't get that much spam, so I look through it). As such, I believe it has to be a problem with NICO's mail server or service. Most likely they do something like Comcast where they won't even send mail TO servers on RBLs (which are mafia-esque and shouldn't be used at all IMO), and since my mail service isn't US-based, it may well be on some RBL it doesn't even know and/or care about. :gotme

I guess it comes down to seeing some of the people here over and over again...sort of like neighbors and being more considerate with them when they ask questions, give info or need help. For example, with only a couple of exceptions, I recognize each poster to this thread as long-term contributors that I would help as best I could.

It's sort of the same with someone I meet at a given random place that asks for help; I may not go out of my way, but if it's something I know how to do and I can do it without risking being placed in a tough position, I'll do it.

I also agree that the "take it to the delaer" response is a result of fewer folks turning wrenches on it themselves, the complexity of the vehicle, low production numbers and of course the notion that many of us on this board probably have more money than time to chase down a problem. I'm somewhere in the middle and have had few occasions to need a dealer anyway.

I also participate on www.jeepforum.com with a Grand Cherokee where the community is 180* different than ours and you can easily see why.

To me, first impressions are less impactful on a board like this unless they are a troll or a hater of some sort.

Well, I guess I am not the only one with the same feelings about this issue. I will continue to try to help when I can, but add a few words like "let us know what the final solution was". I view this site often, enjoy it and intend to keep doing so. Thanks to all for your input. That's my final solution.

selective help doesn't work either; meaning if you only response to those who you recognized, then forum lost its purpose. my mentality is that if i know about something people are asking, i'll respond. if i've done it, i'll reference my experience. i don't make up stuff or withhold information.

To those of us on here that responded ^^ we should all just do our part and hope others will follow..... My main goal here is to help out any way I can and find solutions to those questions I don't know answers to... Although I have posted one too many pictures of my car being modified one way or another, I'm just sharing since I'm always changing things up...

I also take criticism lightly... Don't be afraid to speak your mind I'm not going to pick a fight on the Web over what anyone likes and dislikes!! :bigthumb:

good topic...I agree.

adding to the "annoy list" would be:

1. Incomplete original post / thread
example: "...I need help with tire size" (no listing of their year/model, desired size 19", 20" etc..., set up of either uniform or staggard, -- the list goes on and on....
-- members now have to play the guessing game

2. The "Search" function should be used more as well -- or even 'revamped' into a better "search" feature

....I enjoy this forum and I frequent other Infiniti forums as well -- this allows me to get better educated with our cars and gather helpful information...that I may pass along to others... :dblthumb:
