So I've been looking for something to replace my Sentra Spec V (most unreliable car ever built, BTW) and I started looking at early Qs. I found one today that I think I'm going to buy.

Here's the deal. It's a 93 standard model. It's red with tan leather. EVERYTHING works. I mean this car is so f'ing cherry you could eat off the seats (not that I'd want to get food stains on them). No dings, no dents. Rear bumper cover repainted at the dealer in 1996, small amount of paint touched up on RF fender at the same time. Can only tell by the faint orange peel. No crash damage. Second owner, since 1996. Has only just broken 76.000 miles(!).

Engine has all eight new injectors (at 67k), plugs, all new hoses (plenum & water), belts, new fan, new master cylinder. All maint. records including transmission full flush at 30k & 60k, oil changes every 3750 w/Mobil1. Tires (nice but not sticky Michelins) have 1/2 tread. No fuel pump noise.

Slight leak on steering rack. Very slight shake at idle but no CEL. Owner says creaks from RF when it rains (upper link?).

He was asking $4500, but I got him down to $3750. Does this seem fair? KBB says 3750 for private party. The car is just so nice that I think I will kick myself if I pass it up.

Save for tining chain guide inspection/replacement, new rubber for the suspension and probably shocks, then tires. PS never been flushed? Was the ATF replacement a drain and fill, or an actual mechanical flush? Pan drop and filter replacement also? 60K service performed also?

Your call, but sounds very nice. Look at all fluids, pull the service records, and have it inspected by a senior Infiniti technician.

Yep - Pan drop & fill AND mechanical full flush. PS has been changed, but it was unclear if it's been flushed or just droppered. Has new ps lines, so I would hope flushed. If not I can take care of that easily. 60k service was performed - replaced hoses, belts, fan & thermostat at the same time. All reciepts. All fluids look clean like new. Oil filler cap is clean.

I trust my own assessment before I'll pay a stealership flunkie to check it out... I'm an ASE-certified tech who changed careers to editing for auto. publications...

Around here dealerships hire one trained tech and fifteen hourly parts-swappers.

It will need shocks sooner rather than later.

This one comes with the FSM - do they all?

Yeah, I'd jump on it. At 76K, that paint and interior condition, AND with all that new stuff, it's a great buy. I'd pay more.

Thanks for the support guys. I called the guy and pinned it down at $3750. I was having some serious second thoughts along the lines of "I'm buying a 12-year-old car for nearly $4000?!!"

But after doing a bit more research I'm pretty confident this will be a good one. The challenge for me will be keeping it as nice for the long haul.

I dont see how you cna go wrong...

Just sounds like it needs some guides (depending on your MFG date), upper links and your all set.....

If your an ASE tech, with the help of NICO, youll be able to bring this baby to 100% fairly easy... This seems like a real good find, proabbly better than ones ive seen as of recent!

Yeah, a tech w/o a lift... and I've gotten old and slow

I'm looking forward to it. Gave the guy a deposit today, pick it up Tuesday.

Are you trying to make me sick!?!?!? I wish I had that oportunity when I bought my last Q!!!!! For someone wanting a G50 this is about as good as it gets - but take care of the chain guides ASAP!

A tech without a lift is like a bartender without a shaker.

Anyway, a toolset and the FSM and TSB will go a long way. For a rube like me, working on the VH45DE is like worshiping in Notre Dame.

Got it. Here's a pic. Sweet, sweet sweet - like a time machine inside!

THe seats are a little dirty in a few spots, and the back of the rear seat is drying out but it's not cracked. I've had good luck with saddle soap/lexol in the past... ANy other suggestions? I also need to dye a couple of tiny spots on the center console and the driver's seat.

Avoid alkaline soaps if you don't want to accelerate the cracking.

Stick to the Lexol. There are threads on leather care, so try a search.

I'll try to get some more later. My wife calls it a "chick color" too, but I kind of like it. The interior on mine is light brown. I like your grey/black better.
