I’ve been reading in the VQ series forum since a majority of my VK’s internals are similar. The VK got the same rings the Rev-up VQ had. 05-06 G’s.. many with replaced motors. I think In end 06 Nissan changes the piston rings and added a “scraper’ in between the rings.. at any rate, I read an article that the VK and the Northstar V8 Cadillac motor are high performance motors placed in sedans the cruise the parking lots in suburbia ... putting around never hardly seeing 3,000 rpms.. causes these motors and the VQ’s to build up burnt oil by blow back and cake at the top and ultimately its rendered useless. The article said to give it the Italian Tune up.... pedal to the floor .. occasionally.. is this true by anyone’s experience or knowledge? And how often does it need this hard run?

Once fully warmed up, a good WOT run on an entrance ramp never hurts anything. Not sure that it's necessary, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Yea, I do that problem is, I only get through two gears and by the end of the onramp I’m pushing 95-100mph. It’s just so damn fast.. boom boom boom 4th- 100+
Love that.. but it’s a hard car to WOT.. with in seconds I’m at a felony.. it’s just amazing the speed and pull- I’ve not been outrun yet. I’ve smoked a new Comaro, and a Pontiac GTO. The GTO kept his nose on my back quarter panel but the mighty Q prevailed! The Comaro was a joke.. the Q is quite the sleeper- tomorrow she gets transmission flush, new coolant and oil and the NGK Laser Platinums-

Ahh, the good olé Italian tuneup.

I believe I have read a post from you in the past that you have a highway commute or drive up a hill to work? If so, just drive the car normally up the hill. The gears will drop and get your engine revving nicely. Heck, normally the RPMs are so high even at moderate highway speeds that I wouldn't worry about it.

On build up, that's a no from my experience. I've disassembled averagely commuted VKs and a couple of VQs even at high mileage and I wouldn't look at any one of them and be alarmed at oil caking.
But I do exercise my go pedal liberally.

That’s good to hear, there’s nothing online about what Nissan did to “modify” those blown Rev-Up VQ’s. I can’t figure when Nissan started the new rings either. Speed limit up the mountain on Tennessee side is 60 and 65 on Carolina side. My car has enough torque that I don’t think it has to gear down.. I removed the butterfly valve in the active exhaust and the active muffler. It has a beautiful sound- even my neighbor said he loved hearing me start it at 4am- she sounds like a complicated angry exotic- but I digress-
Coming up the NC side if no ones around I’ll get down to 35-49 and open it up going up the steep grade and I can actually hear the rear tires at the point of hoping and breaking loose and then your at the top! These are fun- I hope there’s more fun for us in the future with Infiniti. Anyone know how they are holding up as far as resale? I’m hoping like hell they are following the Q. Highly doubtful.. bummer-
