does the swirl valve help or hurt performance?want more hp!

im noobie to infiniti. over the last few days with this sites help i probly know more then most local mechanics..this site is awesome. im an aircraft mechanic and the faa chould take some notes from here!! I have a 99 i30 cali engine emissions pkg. Itwas free,took off plenum and all lines egr.all sensors and cleaned them all. i want to know what effect this swirl valve has on engine hp? what are some things i can do to this engine for cheap money to get some more hp?? you guys here seem to know your' sh.t!! I cant believe anyone would go to a mechanic with this sites info. If you can read you can fix!!the flow charts and tech info really takes the thaught process out of diagnostics. i know quite a few "mechanics" that should spend some time here!! keep up the great work and thanks to all. Taking it off you might gain 1 or 2 hp, but you'll loose a lot more in low end torque, so it's a judgment call on your end. Judging by recent incidents, the FAA could take a less or two from a LOT of places
