Does the stocker airbox resonator serve a purpose?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Other than to resonate the noise of the intake?

I was checking the status on my air filter and took off the resonator while I was at it, gave her a nice roar, but I was wondering if removing this pos would negatively effect my baby in any way. Input is highly appreciated

SHould be fine. Removing the resonator/air box is part of installing a short ram intake, so it probably doesnt create any problems.

That's what I figured but it's always nice to get a second opinion. Thanks bro.

like you said, it only quiets down the intake noise. sounds much better w/o it.

Also by removing it you will have a little better air flow.

Look at the actual intake box, coming out of the side of it is a wide plastic tube which connects to behind the driver's side headlight and goes into a hole somewhere underneath the intake area. This piece is the resonator.

its just a big plastic box with a single pipe, pretty pointless
