Being in the market for a Pop Charger-Z tube combo, which I am finally ordering on Monday if time is on my side, observing the beautiful gas prices we have now (not a fan of the oil traders right now, or for the past couple years), I was wondering if it actually does give you better MPGs. I've heard some people say bolt-on intakes don't give you better MPGs, some cases make it worse, and I've also heard the opposite. Theoretically it makes sense to me that it would get you the better MPGs. Obviously this is not the reason I'm purchasing it since I'm asking the night before without much research into it, but I was just curious if anyone who has this on their car, if they have noticed an increase in MPGs.

I tested out my G's (06 coupe AT) range on my trek to my parent's last week, which is a 7 hour drive = 445 miles one way. On the way up, I had some fun reaching speeds of 110 held out for a few miles a couple times (speed limit 55, didn't want to push my luck to far), playing with a guy and his Vette ranging from 85-100 on the freeway for approx 15 miles, and aggressive acceleration. Other than that it was 80ish on the freeway (275 miles), 65 on the highway (170 miles). Got 50 miles away (last gas station before my destination) and I was at the tick below 1/4 tank according to the oh so trusty gauge (the trip itself was on approx 19 gallons). On the way back, I resisted the urge (which was really hard) and did 63 highway, 75 freeway with "normal acceleration" and was able to drive to work the next morning (approx 10 miles, city) and then go fill up. Cranking out the numbers, I got 26 MPG (range was about 460 miles) on the way back + going to work, which I think is pretty darn good for a car in this class. haha So in telling this story, will there be a noticeable increase in my MPGs over a full tank (not on a trip, but in general)?

This is a topic that most people tend to "agree to disagree"

I can tell you that if you get it, you're probably going to use more gas because you will like the sound so you'll punch it more just to hear it

Yeah, I keep hearing that from everyone which is why I'm getting it in the first place, plus the simple power increase so I'm excited.

Ordered it this morning, bright and early...hopefully it won't take the max 5 days to get here...where is everythingg35 based out of?

Yeah, you're right...Scottsdale, AZ.

I ordered it Monday morning, said it would ship no later than yesterday (15th), and it finally shipped this evening so I'll be receiving it a couple days later than I had anticipated.....was hoping to have it Friday.

alright, finally got it installed after a little spilled blood putting those seals on...as per the instructions that i looked at after completing the install, i recommend gloves to anyone else who is going to do this or the clamp doubles as a good tool to spread the seals out to get them on (you'll know what i'm talking about when you get it). took it for a 10 min drive around town to make sure i was good to go and i'm loving it already...what a perfect time to put it on and waste gas with record high gas prices because that's what i'll be doing tomorrow.

anywho, so this may be a dumb question but i don't see it documented anywhere and don't want to ruin anything (this is also the 1st engine mod i've done, everything that i've done before has been stereos), so bare with me...is the filter pre-oiled or no? and also, i notice the oil bottle says something about this kit you can buy to put the proper amount of oil on it or use a gram scale, neither of which i have. any good pointers/tips on oiling this baby up without either of these?

I finally own a pop charger. All I can say is wow. I love the way it sounds when the throttle is wide open. It showed up this morning and I was at home from work today so it became my project. It was a pain in the rear putting that rubber on the edges. Definately need gloves and a little patience which I was running out of Well worth owning that pop charger with the z tube.

Now it's time for some new shoes. My shoes just keep letting loose througout first and second.

I say yes. More airflow=more efficiency....however, you need to lay off the gas to get the benefit.
