I thought I read before there has to be a certain space between the MAF and turbo. I upgraded my turbo and it has a 4" inlet to a 45 deg coupler to the MAF then air filter. Im wondering if I need to put a pipe to move it farther? Wondering cuz my idle is pretty rough/low now

S1 rb25 btw

Yes, if your MAF is too close to the compressor of the turbo it'll mess with how the air is flowing through the meter causing all kinds of funky readings.

If possible move it further away from the turbo.

Can the issues be fixed with tuning settings? Ive seen people run mafs pretty close to the turbo?

I wouldn't put it any closer than the back side 6 inches from the turbo inlet. Stock is about that close.

Moved it farther away with a 5" joiner pipe and a coupler thats about 4". Idles perfect again and doesnt try to die any more.
