Yup, the FWD and RWD difference is the simple fact that illustrates the correct answer.maqueswell wrote:A co-worker is trying to tell me that the 2009 Maxima is built on the same frame as the M35/45 (2006-).
I thought the Maxima was built on the same frame as the G35. Can anybody prove me right/wrong?
Nope. There are more comparison's between the Z platform and the M platform than there are for the Maxima/M. All the cars on the Infiniti line are RWD and based on the FM platform - the 2009 Maxima is based on the D platform....maqueswell wrote:Anyone,

Same answer: nope!maqueswell wrote:I should've worded that differently. I know that the Maximas are FWD. I was wondering if the Maxima and M series share the same chassis.
It's not the wording, it's the understanding of the intrinsic differences between the platforms dedicated to FWD and RWD. In most FWD (later Audi models excepted), the engine is placed sideways for space saving reasons. Can't recall a sideways placement for rear wheel drive except for certain mid engine designs like the NSX and Miura.maqueswell wrote:I should've worded that differently.
