As the subject says, does anyone know if the AFE drop in air filter 31-10196 fit 2012 M37?

I believe that would be a "no". That part number fits a G37/Q50, according to their website.

The G37/Q50 has a slightly different style air box from the M37, even though the engine is the same. I run the AEM Dryflow filters in my M56 but they don't show a drop in filter for the M37. For some reason they do have an oil free CAI system:
