My dealer in Alexandria, VA says they will have the 2006 next week.

I almost bought a M35 Sport this past week, but decided to wait to see the 2006 before making my final decision....

I can try to take some photos and post if the 2006 Q arrives.

RPM matching algorithm like on the Y50. Ratios unchanged, as far as I am aware.

The F50 Q45 final drive ratios are according to the Nissan-Infiniti news website

02: 2.764:1

03-05: 3.133:1 06: 2.937:1

They had an '06 Q at the DC Auto Show. The seats were different from the other F50s, much more like the M's seats.

I was a big fan, got a couple pics of it too.

That would be the so far unorderable Sport model.

All '06 Q45s will be the Sport model, and there won't be many of them. According to the Sales Manager at Bloomington Infiniti in Minneapolis, nearly all of the dealerships will be getting 2 or 3 at most.

And they'll probably have to give away money, cocaine, and oral sex to get anyone to buy them. Sad.

I understood there will still be a premium model that has some options not available on the Sport model. I bet there is still a base model also.

That is correct on the Premium, but the base model IS the Sport now.

Thats because they could have done a better job with the looks. Aside from the headlights and a decent interior, the car is mundane. The G50 had a lot more personality, however, that didn't help sales either.

Would love one on the cheap though.

The problem is that the LS430 just blows the new Q45 away in so many ways. The Q has its qualities no question over the LS, I drove a 2002 and 2004 and liked both of them very much, but for the people that spend 55-60k for new cars are going to buy either M's because they like the sporty feel or an LS 430 because they want the total comfort and some good performance. I pick on the Lexus because really that is the only car in the same price range as the price-range NEW as the Q, compared to S Benz, A8 and 7 series BMW.

The Q that was touted as the "no more excuses" car (that was told to me by the GM of Infiniti of Ventura) as he tried to get me to hold on for a year or two and get the 2002. And it was the worst selling Q in history, probably one of he worst selling cars on the market.

WOW, that's a bit pricey for people to have high expectations about it and be let down once it's released. They shoulda asked more questions to the consumer before building. It gets old when people build and don't find out what people really want in a car. As long as they do that there will always be a market for Aftermarket parts.

How does an LS430 blow away an F50 Q45?

unfortunatly,in almost any way you look at it. interior style and quality of materials are a big one, along with resale value, and prestige of brand in consumers eye.this model of q is a total dog when comparing to whats out there in the market, and the sales numbers show infiniti has missed the mark on what makes people open their wallet in this catagory of purchase.what a shame........

I'm deciding between a Y34 M45 or F50 Q45 right now (probably in 6 months or so) and both are at about $20,000 for an '02. I'm REALLY leaning towards the M.

I guess people look for different things in cars.

As far as I'm concerned, they're about equal in reliability, and I still refuse to regard Lexus as any more prestigous a brand than Infiniti or Acura. All three are re-badged mainline Japanese brands, and Toyota doesn't carry any more weight for me than Nissan or Honda does.

Thus, the LS430 has a somewhat better ride and slightly better fit & finish, and better resale, but the Q45 is infinitely more fun to drive and has better performance across the board, and it's also less expensive. Both are way less expensive than the assorted German competition, with the Q being a superior performer to the S500.

I dunno, I never saw why anyone saw the LS430 as being somehow universally superior to the F50 Q. I think they're about even and it's more about what you look for in a car. I'd certainly take the Q over the Lexus.

Dang, you couldn't touch either one of those around here for that price, add about 5-6k and you'll be in the range. I still see '01 Q's for 20k+ around here.

I've seen some banner ad's on the net for the new Q, and have gotten some mailers from Infiniti with the 06 Q. I hope it stays around, they need a long wheelbase model though. It would make mine (and probably many of y'alls) day to see a new, redesigned Q45, oh I hope they're working on one!

the Q is nice, no question. But the resale alone is a killer, the back seat is no comparison. The performance of the LS is no slouch, I was driving my Dad's LS430 all weekend and it is very nice.

BTW, the LS and the Q are very comparable around price. My dad paid 51 (lease) for a 05 with everything back the back seat entertainment. That is about the same as the Q.

I agree the Q is more sporty but the M has that market now. The bottom line for 70 year old guys (who make up alot of this market) like luxury cars that look the part and the Q just doesn't do it that wel. That said, I like the Q and thing the performance and interior is nice, but the looks are just flat. Also the small back seat, little trunk and mundane styling have made the marketplace say NO. Don't take my word for it, look at the sales numbers.

The M45 would be a 2003 probably.

Just watch out for the oil consumption issue on both these cars. If not broken in properly, or mis-treated with oil changes in the early miles, this is an issue.
