My auto transmission on the s13 is bad. I have another s14 auto transmission sitting in the garage, and i am thinking about using that one. Does anyone know if the s14 auto transmission will work in s13 or what kind of modifications will be needed? Thanks a lot!

Yes, it will bolt right on without problem. How about the electronic stuff, do i need to swap all the sensors? Or just keep whatever i have in there?

think about it... the only change from s13 to s14 was obd1 vs obd2 which has mothing to do with the trans... the at is contolled by its own computer...

Not so...S13 auto transmission is VERY different than S14 auto.

They are not interchangeable. Electronic controls are different, valve bodies and such are not the same...they are quite different in fact.

Sorry.

can you explain this a bit in deth? it seems odd for them to make a change like this for no apparent reason.

im not doubting you i am just trying to learn more

As with everyhitn else on cars...model years go on, and they add electronics to make them more accurate and reliable (and expensive...).

That's about the only explantion I can give...I gave a stock '95 auto trans to a buddy so that he use the internals, and after disassembling them both, he couldn't really swap any parts.

Now, this was a '90 that he had...the '94 'vert 240SX maybe had a more similar auto, but I'd bet it's not plug and play.

And to verify, search on http://www.car-part.com ...if there's an interchange, it'll list '91-94 transmission under the search for a '96 auto trans.

If it's plug and play, there will be an interchange...

I really wish that i have time to try the s14 transmission. I compare the connectors, and everything seems to be the same on the wiring. I am not too sure about the sensor itself. Bought an used transmission fom s13 and going to put that one in, so i have the s14 transmission just sitting in the garage now.
