Ok I can't find/get a loaded 6 speed Versa. So I started looking at the Sentras & the Altimas. I went to "Build your Nissan" on-line. It won't let you build a manual transmission car WITH all the bells & whistles. They must think that everybody that drives a standard wants a bare bones car & everybody that drives CVT may want all the goodies. Am I right here?

Nissan has always short-changed the manuals. There was the same problem with the Maxima/Altima 3.5's a couple years ago.

Once in a blue moon, the factory turns out a loaded 6MT. One such specimen fell into my possession about two months ago. My Versa is a Sapphire Blue SL 6MT with convenience, audio, Sirius, sunroof, splash guards and floor/trunk mats packages. Everything but ABS package.

In these 2 months since I got the Versa, I have not seen another SL 6MT on local dealers' inventory.

The message board does not represent the majority of buyers. Most buyers want a automatic transmission with most options. Others want the car fullly loaded. The other large group with small cars wants the base model with some options (S, manual, power group). The smallest group of buyers wants a manual transmission car fully loaded. Although the 6 speed transmission makes this a little more desireable to some enthusiats.

To the contrary, I think this forum is a good cross-section of Versa owners with various desires and lifestyles. Yeah, not all of us are looking for the same features, but take a look at just how many of us DO want a loaded 6-speed.. even people that would not necessarily be called a traditional "enthusiast".

Some people just prefer 6-speeds, some prefer automatics, and some prefer automatics but don't trust the new CVT technology. That last group is a good candidate for loaded 6-speeds.

When I went to buy mine there were only 2 SL Sedans w/ 6MT... both were at the same dealership 70 miles away. By the time I decided that's what I really wanted (about an hour) One of them was gone and I got the last one. I think they are pretty hard to find especially sedans??

You might check the date on the threads you're responding to...this one is from November last year.

My GF wanted a MT w/ ABS and nothign else...

We found two and we had the dealer look over the entire east coast. Both of those still had options. We honestly found it hard to find ANY MT Versa' and ended up putting a deposit on one in VA (we're in western NY) before the Dealer here cut us a really good break on an AT and we just decided to say fit

Finding a manual versa is kinda hard the only local dealership near me had just one versa with the manual period and it was the sedan with convience package, abs, slash guards and floor mat. It was the s model but I mean honestly the only thing the SL has that I wish I had is cruise control

Apparently, there isn't much of a demand. I actually tried to order one (I was planning on getting an onyx blue SL with manual) but the salesman kept evading the issue... and I wound up driving the CVT and quickly changed my mind.
