Does K&N cold air intake system really work?

I have a 02 Pathfinder. I'm thinking about installing a K&N cold air intake system. But does it really work & what about the 14+ hp it claims? Your thoughts will really help. Thx

if you check their dyno charts you do gain power but it is usually not at your engines peak. it is usually somewhere else in the RPM range. i put a K&N drop in panel filter because i was getting crappy MPGs. i definitely gained 2 MPGs. i can only imagine you would do better w/ a full intake system. just don't get the one w/ the fancy chrome piping, get the black plastic kit. there is less heat soak w/o the metal piping and you'll gain more power.

i have an 01 Pathy i put one in.

it gives a little bit of a louder sound(good sound).

a little bit of a mpg gain not really noticable.

I love not having to buy a new filter everytime
