does it matter where my bov goes?

i am getting a front mount intercooler with the bov flange on the cold pipe side....is it supposed to be on the hot pipe side or is the cold pipe side fine?

well its said that if the BOV is closer to the turbo it gives you a longer life span on the turbo, if the BOV is closer to the throttle body you get a faster throttle response. I would keep it on the hot side just for the turbo life.

what he said ^^^ but let me add in my 2 cents..if you are worried about that little tiny bit of quicker turbo response but want your turbo to have a longer life span then go ahead and put the bov on your hotpipe and recirculate it..recirculating will give you quicker throttle response.

ok well the fmic kit that i am picking up has the greddy bov flange on the cold pipe already, i can still recirculate it right? i just need a long enough piece of hose correct? thanks for the responses...

correct but there is no point in recirculating it if its on the coldpipe already.

Why is that? Id see a good reason. The cold pipe would give you a colder intake temp (better power) and better for the turbo since it cools to some effect. Plus the recuiculate will help with the ooo so common RPM drop when you clutch in.

well what im saying is that when the bov is mounted on the coldpipe its somewhat like if you were to have it mounted on the hotpipe but also have it recirculated..when the bov is on the coldpipe you have quicker throttle response even when its not recirculated thats why there is no need to do it..also not all engines rpms will drop down if the bov is vented. some engines drop right to idle and stop no bouncing around until it gets steady...others will bounce around until steady and some will just die right out and therefore must be recirculated. if you do have that problem then yes its a very good idea to recirculate, pretty much a must
