Does iPod interface work with 6G iPods?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

The manual only mentions 3rd through 5th generations iPods in the compatibility list. Has anyone successfully used a 6th (i.e. current) generation iPod Classic with the iPod connector?

I bought an iPod classic 6G last weekend after talking to the Car stereo guy at the store, who told me that the 6G interface it the same as the 5G.

Works great! I now have access to my entire music collection (91GB) from the steering wheel controls.

Yes, it'll work with the interface, but it will not charge the iPod unless you use this to convert the car's 12v power to 5.5v.

Please note that the charging problems only apply to the iPhone 3G, the most recent iPod Touch and the newest iPod Nano.

The iPod Classic (even the newest 6th generation model of the iPod Classic) WILL charge properly off of the EX35's iPod connector cable. The 6th gen iPod Classic is the ONLY one of the new iPods that still supports 12v Firewire charging.

I don't have an iPod but I just heard about this product that allows newer models to charge from interfaces (like the one on the EX) providing the old-style Firewire one:http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1667
