So my windshield is being replaced tomorrow (Due to pitted glass) and even tho my car doesn’t have the LDW feature (At least I don’t think I have it) my 2008 M35 sport has a small camera behind the rearview mirror looking through the top part of the windshield. My question is: do I have to notify Safelite Auto Glass to get me the correct glass with the camera option or do all M’S have the camera even without the LDW option. Where is the LDW button anyway? I am pretty sure I don’t have it since I don’t see a LDW button anywhere. I have the technology package in my car. THANKS!

there's a button bottom left below your steering column - it should have a picture of a car inside the lane. if you have that, you have LDW. also if your glass has a cut-away where the camera is, I don't think it hurts to ask them to give you the same piece of glass just in case.

My windshield definitely has the cut out for the camera. However, I do not have LDW option in my car. Not sure why I would have the camera then, unless it also serves as another purpose. How does the auto wipers work? Thanks!

Agree 100%

Unless you are not paying for the windshield (insurance), then by all means get the correct one just in case you need to sell the car in the future to make sure everything works correctly. If you are paying out of pocket, I would not pay for the windshield with LDW camera cut out. I have it, and I never use it.

That camera's sole purpose is for lane departure warning and nothing else. I didn't know 2008 M35 had auto windshield wiper option, but that camera will not detect anything for that function.
