I guess it wouldnt be something anyone on NICO would use, since most of us drive used cars. I do wonder how it sounds, since CDs are already supposed to be "perfect". How do you make something sound better than perfect?

I personally have listened to both at an audio shop demonstration. He played for use both a cd and a dvd and the dvd did sound a "bit" better but it really wasn't that gigantic of a difference. The setup he had there was amazing though so sharp and clear. SO yeah in my experience it did sound a bit better but not by any means something i have to have.

It sounds much better! DVD-A and SACD's are made for multi-channel surround sound, unlike CDs. They're two downsides...one is that you have to hook it up right, and you must have a reciever that will accept the inputs. DVD-A/SACD use 5 analog RCA type connectors, instead of the fiber/coax digital type connectors. The other downside is the limited DVD-A/SACD disks out there...Pioneer has a cheap player that will do all 4 (CD/DVD/DVD-A/SACD).

For music in surround sound, they win, however I always listen to my music in stereo so I don't see much of a need for it.
