In my 240, the floorpan around the transmission gets really HOT. I was wondering if this is a common thing? It gets warmer as the engine warms up, but doesnt gets hotter when i drive hard. Nor does it cool down if I were driving it hard. Its constant.

around the transmission or at your drivers area? Mine gets pretty hot in the area around the footwell of the driver because the exhaust runs under there and usually I feel that on my 50 mile commute.

its from your exhaust genious's--lol--j/kSometimes--youll get a car from soeone ho took it in for service for a "rattling" noise. That noise is caused by the exhuats heatshield. The shop will usually remove it as will most other(like me) to shut the rattle up. It then gets just a litle warm fomr the heat radiating from the exhaust piping.

check your cat. i have seen some bad cats caused by poor running cars. they came in with the carpets smoking and the cats were glowing red.

I know for sure its not the cat..;) Its not the exhaust either because its not getting hot just under the driver's side floorpan. I probably should have been more specific, on the hump in the floor board under the dash and center console is where the most heat radiates, definantely coming from the transmission. I was just wondering if my transmission was over heating from just regular driving. I mean it gets pretty hot. Hot enough that i can't touch the the metal "hump" for more than 3-4 seconds.

do you have any leaks where the cat bolts in?

i know in my car i had a burnt gasket no heat sheild, and my motor loved to spit flames since it was overly rich. i ended up catching my carpet on fire because it shot a flame into a screw hole that had the carpet covering it .

m/t? should not be hot. a/t? maybe, but not that hot.i would have to see it. try driving for 20 mins then jack it up and look under there. if the floor is getting too hot to touch, then something under there should be like really really hot.

Carpet is usally a good insulator, put the carpet back in and your problem may be solved!

Projex240: Right on the damn money.

I used ot have a regular 240 with that dame rattling, Removed the heat shield and wham no noise.

I never thought anything of it, but I like to drive with my shoes off. Well, burned a hole in my foot.

Cure: buy some of that aluminized heat sheilding crap that attaches to the bottom of the car. Works like new.
