I know its a CB radio. But from when? I can't find any information on it. I know the company is now Memphis Audio, but that's it. I have the unit and antenna, no mic :squint:

Could anyone shed some light on this thing?

Thanks!

From when, I'd say early-mid 70's since it's only 23 channels. It was expanded to 40 in the late 70's early 80's. As far as what to do with it, If you like lotsa lights, knobs, dials on your dashboard, it's a fun accessory. I suppose
if you know someone else that has an old CB radio in their car and you travel a lot together in separate cars, you could have "free" conversation. That is, if you don't mind the ugly external antenna attached to your car and having your conversation be on a "public" airwave. From a safety standpoint, some State Police agencies might still monitor channel 9 but if you need help urgently, dialing 911 on your cell phone is far quicker/easier

Tita, I'm almost afraid to ask what your handle would have been if you had a CB...

Looks like it's Leelee Sobieski. Drool. She's like Helen Hunt if Helen Hunt was hot.

You should have better luck selling it on E-bay or Craigslist, especially if you can prove it works and has a working microphone.

from a few years experience hustling resistors and LEDs at radioshack, you can get the antenna and mic there or order it... if youre that into it.

I doubt there is anyone left out there to talk to, but in the day the truckers used to fill the airwaves and prior to video games reclusive people listened in. Breaker, Breaker.

I'll admit I used to own a CB in the 70's and stubbornly held onto it until the early 80's. This was before the age of GPS, cell phones/texting, or good radar detectors.
The CB came in handy on road trips back then, as truckers would gladly give you reliable speed trap location or directions around traffic jams. Unfortunately, once Smokey and the Bandit came out (1977?), the bandwidth quickly got overwhelmed with idiots and kids, eventually making it almost impossible to get good info without constant interruptions.

I agree, I can't imagine there would be very many people left still using them.

Catch you on the flip flop, good buddy.

I love that movie!!!

Hey, Bandit, this is Little Beaver. Put your foot on the floor. We got your back door, and I'm clear.
