sensor bad on an 04? when was the car bought? I believe the SRS warranty is 3 years or 60k miles, you might be able to get ti fixed for free assuming the bags have never deployed

its my understanding that the srs system is covered under the powertrain warranty and is good for 5yr. 50k miles, some dealers will not tell you this. ALSO there is a way to reset an airbag light that is flashing, just reset mine and it worked. if it stays on solid it must be fixed by a dealer, as it is then non-functional.

can provide the link if anyone is interested, as it comes straight out of the service manual.

I have your answer. Get into the car and close the door.

Turn the key in the ignition until the cars electrical powers up, but don't start the car.

Watch the airbag light carefully during this process. It will come on, but will go out before it starts the annoying flashing. at the VERY MOMENT it goes out, turn the ignition to OFF.

Wait about 5-7 seconds, and turn the key to ON again....but still, do not start the car. As soon as the airbag light goes out, turn the key to OFF again, and wait 5-7 seconds.

Repeat this 3-4 times, and then turn the ignition to OFF.

I take the key out and wait about 10 seconds before starting the car.

Now watch the startup on the dash lights, and see if once the airbag light goes out....it stays off.

If so you're golden.

I will admit when I first did this, all it did was slow the flashing of the airbag light. I did it a second time, and it stopped.

It came back 2 minutes later. I did the procedure yet again and it stopped.

The light flashed again after they installed the XM Radio wiring and Escort wiring, but this time, after using the above procedure, it stopped for good.

Trust me, it's frustrating, but you CAN get the airbag light to stop flashing.

(this is the procedure i followed to get mine to stop flashing, and it worked the first time. ) this procedure comes out of the service manual, just a little easier to understand.
