could anyone here tell me how to install a pansonic h/u (CQC7103U) with 6.5" pioneer speakers (TS-A1671R). currently they are just sitting in my closet waiting for me to get time/money to have them installed. id rather do it myself since funds are tight lately and id rather not have to pay someone else to do it. by the way, my car is a '99 maxima gle with bose. i've never done any kind of audio install before so does anyone know how to make this as simple and straight-forward as possible? any help? thanks!

I think you might have to have a pro do it bc I've had installers tell me that factory Bose systems are a pain in the butt. I don't know though for sure, but you could call a local install shop and they should tell you if the Bose system in your car is a pain or not.

I guess it depends on how mechanically/electrically inclined you are. Since you've never done any installing before the Bose may not be a good one to use for a starter install.

At a bare minimum you should have at least a basic knowledge of how to use multimeters, have a basic set of tools, wire strippers/crimpers, etc. You need to know how to test a wire to figure out what it is, power, ground, illumination, speaker wire etc.

A basic deck and pair of speakers is normally a simple install but with the bose in the equation your work goes up expontially. You will normally need to rewire each speaker since they each currently have a bose amplifier on them. There are several ways to do this but each requires a fair amount of work compared to a standard install.

We can probably help walk you through it but you are going to have to know what we are talking about when we say something like "Check for voltage on XX wire and see if it is switched with the key or constant".

qsiguy is correct, you can do it but you have to run new wire from the new speakers up to the HU. otherwise you can keep the old wiring and use an amplifier bypass harness that metra sells and then you can remove the amp. either way works, although the amp bypass would take less work. the amp is probably somewhere under the passenger side quarterpanel.

Hey.... I would recommend the harness from metra. I charge 150-200 dollars for the bose bypass ... I have to bypass at each speaker. No Fun!

But if you have questions about it... (I think the wires that you have to connect are Green/purple... ) This is off the top of my head... that's not totally accurate.. because it's been a week and half since I did one
