Does anyone know how to do basic maintenance, like oil change on their G35? I upgraded from a 95 Integra to 2004 G35 and the engine is totally different from what i'm used to. Any pics or details on fuild change or spark plug change will be very appreciated cause this recession is a pain.

Oil change takes 10 min with proper tools...

You need:

RampsI think it is a 14mm socketI like the Plier style oil filter wrench.Oil pan

You will need a new filter and 5 qts of 5w-30(your auto parts store should be having sales and they can help you find what you need)

As for the plugs... well they last over 50k miles... so I haven't had to do that yet.

You may want to consider acquiring a decent set of tools

Do not use the jack that came with your vehicle

See the owners manual for the location of the jack points under the vehicle

I've done 27 oil changes thus far on my G. I purchase the oil, air, and cabin filters at the dealer. I use 5w-30 Pennzoil, Valvoline, or whatever is on sale and change it every 3k-3.5k miles.

I also rotate my tires every other oil change

In addition to ramps get a decent 4 ton hydraulic jack as well as jack stands. My photobucket account does not seem to be working so I can't post pictures. My previous posts on this topic are not showing previous pictures that I posted so I don't know what is wrong?

The fiberboard shroud underneath blocking access to the oil filter has around 14 10mm bolts to remove it. I use a cordless drill with an adapter for the 10 mm 3/8 drive socket. When you purchase the oil filter you will need a cap wrench to remove the old oil filter. Take the filter into any auto supply store to get the correct size.

Although initially you will spend a few hundred for all the necessary tools over time you will save a considerable amount of money.

The best part is the wife leaves me alone
