it's called heads up display..or HUD...don't break your windshielf..that one costs a lot more than a normal windshield-and those hud's barley ever work...atleast i've only seen 1 out of 4 work-

i wouldn't mind having one. when i was researching 240's before i bought mine i was hoping i'd get one with the HUD. no biggy however. i imagine it would take a lot of mofo work to install one..not really worth the trouble. but like i said. no biggy. people who say none of them work wish they had one. *they problly don't work.

Here is the info on the HUD. ONLY available in the coupe s13's. Expensive to replace windsheilds, but they are pretty cool. I have heard problems about them working intermetently, but I think that it is just some bad soldering connections. Nothing hard to repair. (Have it done independantly of the dealership) I have heard of ONE person swapping the anolog for the digital. He said it worked, but it was alot of work. You have to swap the ecu, display unit, gauges, and I think the speed sensor from the back of the transmission. You will have to do some cutting in the dash for the display unit. I don't think that it would be real major. The wiring should all be the same and should plug in, but I'm not sure, I've never done it.

I have HUD. Love it, but it did blow out after 7 years or so, had to replace the main unit ---$150. But other than than I've had no problems with it. I love it because it is different and draws attention, and makes mine unique.

I have a hard on hate for digital speedos'. Although all my friends think the HUD is super nifty I got sick of it after a few weeks. :( I guess thats just more of the **** we put up with for our 240's

I have the HUD, and I have a 91 coupe, and it only works once my engine is warmed up. Pain in the a** at night, but cool once it turns on.

So to swap from Dials to Dig you need to swap the ECU too? Damn wish I would have known that 2 months ago. All I did was the cluster and speed sensor. No wonder that damned thing didnt work. All I wanted was the DIG cluster it looks better to me.

When I get my Sr20 for my '93 coupe (w/ HUD that ALWAYS works perfectly), i plan to be the first that uses the HUD w/ an SR20. It'll be a b****, but **** I love the thing. Everyone says "where do you get one of those?" I'm all "lol, it came with the car." Most of the responses are "No sh*t???"

Im in the process of swaping my old dual dial for the HUD. So far i have the cluster in and it all works except the odometer. Next is the HUD itself. Does anyone know if i can get the sticker for the windscreen at a Nissan dealer or if i need a new windscreen, or will it work just as well on the windscreen?

The 'sticker' is a polarized peice of plastic laminated into the middle of the windshield. You need the whole windshield. When you visit the auto glass place, its the EXPENSIVE windshield listed for your car. Usually about $1400 or so. You can use the HUD w/o the finisher, but it will be out of focus.

$1400??? What the hell. That doesnt sound right at all. For that amount I could just buy another 240.

When I bought my '89 the windshield was cracked. They wanted 800 for the windshield with the HUD display, so I just got a regular windshield, HUD still works fine, clear in focus, the only thing is its a little hard to see in bright direct sunlight, but i can still see it :)

$1,400? I think crack is what you're smoking. A price I got for it was around $700. Still very expensive, but not bad enough to make you not do the swap or get a new car.

Nick.
