I'm the same as turbos12. What's your issue?

I also second joining club-s12.org and checking out the ca18et section of the forums.

i would think it is pretty much the same as a DET, in concept.......

then again you dont even have to know a specific motor to know how to solve alot of different problems and/or diagnose what is wrong.

Hit the SR with a sledgehammer and I will feel better. On second thought just rev it past 8K a couple of times, that should kill it.

8K? I think a couple of seconds off of the 7500 rpm redline will do it!

Kill it, don't make it suffer. 7.5 is a slow bleed gut shot, 8 and up is more humane, right to the head.

If the CA18E is anything like the CA20E then the crank snout is different preventing the DE's cog fitting, and the head bolts are M10 instead of the DE's M11. The timing belt tensioner is in the wrong place which means drilling and tapping the block for the DE tensioner. All around it is not worth it. I am very confident a good condition CA18ET could crank out 200hp with an S14 turbo, some bigger injectors, like 444cc RB26 ones and a proper intercooler.

The CA18ET block probably isn't worth the trouble. For the time and money you could pick up a good condition CA18DET and put it in your S12. It's been done plenty of times, and most of the serious S12 guys end up down this path.

All too true......I dumped 2k on a remanufactured ca18et and only got 160whp out of it, and ended up bending a rod with only 12k miles on it in the end. HUGE waste of money....don't bother. My ca-det is running strong 2+ years.....knock on wood

im rebuilding the engine and im not going to be going the easy way thats just me i like to be different and it depends on what you do to the block, head, pistons, gaskets, valves, valve springs, and other little things i learned from some enginebuilders.. BUT THATS JUST ME..

The ET is a great little engine, I've had great fun with them.

DET rods and pistons are the first thing to fit though, the ET items are both chocolate.

Heads are pretty bad as standard, you'll never make BIG power with one but you can do reasonable things with some sensible porting.

If you want a 16v, just use one form the start. I'm just awkward and like "the underdog"

put CA18DET pistons, rods and main cap girdle in the CA18E block. That would solve a lot of the trouble right there.
