I'm planning on doing a hicas delete on my 1990 gtst, and I was wonder what is the easiest way of deleting it. A simple bar? Maybe, a whole kit? I'm not really crazy about shaving weight at the moment, just want something that works.

Easiest way to render the HICAS inoperable is either the Tomei kit that includes an electronic lockout for the HICAS module plus some spacers to lock out the rack or buy a HICAS lockout bar from a bunch of different manufacturers to physically lock the rack. More complex kits delete the rack and give you new fixed arms to replace the missing steering arms. Best way to do it is to use one of the latter and then delete the whole system to save a bunch of weight and complexity but it's a lot more work. Thankfully the previous owner did that already on my car and even converted to a single-stage steering pump instead of the stock two-stage one.

Wow, lucky you have it converted already. I was looking into the driftworks total eliminator and just removing and looping the lines accordingly.

No idea if R33s are the same but, I read that you can just loop the pumps on a R32 and it'll work fine.

It's not easy to find an R33 pump because they didn't make nearly as many 33s (or 34s) as 32s. The R33 and R34 pump are the same single stage pump. You can buy them new from Japan but they're $1K so that's why I was glad to find my R32 already had one since used pumps are pretty rare, even from overseas wreckers. You can close off or loop the second-stage of an R32 pump when deleting HICAS but I needed a proper single-stage pump to fit my new top-mount turbo kit. You can also use an RB20 or RB25 single stage pump as an alternative to an R33/34 RB26 version but whichever one you use you'll need the matching mounting bracket and a new inertial damper because the spacing and belt sizes are different from the R32 RB26 double-stage PS pump.
