well i saw that shifter at shucks (cragen/checker). in my opinion it doesnt belong in an import, but its your car. do a quick on the plywood splitter and there is a diy home depot lip in the how-to section.

There was a whole thread on plywood splitters not that long ago. It'll give you some answers.

And a no on the shifter. If your just looking for a nice, cheap shifter, just look on ebay some more. There are some that aren't half bad lloking for about 20-25 bucks.

well i wasn't thinking of just painting the plywood. I was thinking of finishing it with fiber glass, pretty much the plywood would be like a base

You guys don't seem to realize, even after assumedly reading the splitter thread, that pro racing team splitters are often made of wood?

keywords here "pro racing" why would he need as much front downforce as a "pro racing" team. If I am guessing correctly, they don't use them for appearance.

Now in terms of cost, ease of use/construction, and durability, what would you suggest to make a splitter out of then? Other than wood, of course.

well, if cost was an issue, you dont need a splitter. pro teams do what pro teams do, i dont, nor would i put wood on my car. sorry. im not trying to be rude or anything so dont take it like that at all dude. if you actually have a need for a splitter, which i doubt 90% of users here do(that includes myself) id buy carbon fibre splitter. thats just me. though i admit, id never buy one nor want/need one

Pro racing teams also have slicks, complete carbon fiber bodies, and 20 sponsor stickers. Does that mean everyone should do that too?

I got an idea. Lets take it a step further than wood splitters.CARDBOARD BODYKITS!Its cheap and easy to work with.*

*Thats not meant to flame the OP, im just using logic thats been suggested.

No, it doesn't. But we're not discussing whether the OP should use a splitter, we're discussing the best way for him to do it.

To the OP: It doesn't seem like, from the way the lip attaches and the way a splitter attaches, that you could really do both. As I'm imagining it, the splitter would need to attach to the lip, and that just wouldn't work out at all.

Really guy??? While I respect the opinions of everyone, it is hard to do it when people come back with the smart a** replies. I am sure if someone has 20 sponsors its not a street car, I am not trying to build a race car. I just wanted to see if anyone had done the plywood splitter + diamond lock lip.

any pics of the items that you are talking about? Not necessarily on a car, but what are you exactly meaning by diamond lock lip? didn't mean to offend, just trying to figure out what you are doing.
