Are you sure it was an M version? BMW V12 from that era were single cam two valve not really suitable for high performace like the then contemporary 4 camshaft 4 valve per cylinder MB V12.FarFetched wrote:I don't know about modern V12, but I have driven V12 BMW 850Csi (powered by an M engine) back in Europe. I very much liked it. I would own one if I could afford it here(besides I haven't seen 850Csi in US yet).
Imagine if Beemer V12 had 48 valves, that would be a monster power house!Look ant McLaren BMW V12 engine - simply AWESOME!850Csi had enough power to please most BMW lovers. I don;t know if Q45 can compete with 850Csi with 6 speed (auto is not an option) .Regarding M powered engine, the M techology was usedto build valve train (larger intake/exhaust valves) M type cam shafts! So, in a sence it was an M8 I wish I could own one of those timeless beauties!maxnix wrote:Are you sure it was an M version? There are 850Csi in the US, just rare. Funny thing is the last time I talked to an owner of one in Portland, he couldn't help but comment how fast the G50 Q45 was.
