A quick search didn't turn up anything but I'm sure this is a noob question.

Does changing wheels change your alignment ?

I'm going to do a bunch of front suspension work, after which I will certainly need an alignment. But i'd rather not scratch my new Kosei wheels. So I was thinking I'd toss on the stock wheels for the alignment and switch back.

If it matters ,the Kosei's are 16x7.5 I think.

In short, no. Alignment specs are not altered when changing wheels.

Remember alignment specs are created by factory with oem tires and wheels and NEW bushings to make the car track true with minimal scrub at highway speeds going straight.

Don't take the alignment specs as gospel in an older used car......that's why each one has a broad range to allow an EXPERT to decide what may be better...........unfortunately few EXPERTS..........take the time to calculate if different numbers would be better ............or examine and measure tires and discuss your driving style and how differing sets might be improved .

This is why alignments only cost $50-$75 not $300.

^^This is why every member should find and make buddies with good techs, and don't be afraid to tip them before work is done.

A little extra cash in the hand of a good/reputable alignment tech can go a very long way. After all, we(car peoples) tend to value our cars more than just about anyting else.. so that extra $20 tip is money well spent.
