Took the car in to Infiniti for having all 3 cautionary lights on. Infinity, without scanning the car, said it was because the brake fluid was low. They looked under the hood and pointed that it was low, but didn't scan the car until I got the service manager involved. The still insisted that it was due to low fluid. Now when I had my car at the body shop for the minor fender bender the wife got in to before Christmas, I asked them to scan the car and see if the lights were related to the wreck. When they scanned it, they showed it was the right front wheel speed sensor, opposite corner from the accident damage. That's why I tried to get it fixed at the dealership under warranty. Now I dug through the CD and found no correlation between the traction control system and the basic braking system. I can't see in any of the fault trees where a low fluid condition would trigger these lights. I saw that low fluid triggers the "brake" light, not these other 3 lights. Any insight on this?

By the way, I have a spanking new set of F/R Hawk HPS pads to put on and I'm getting the rotors turned in the morning. So the fluid level should return to full when I reset the caliper pots. I'm betting money these lights will remain.

Let's try this again. I did all the brake work, topped all the fluids, still got lights.

Well if the fluid level change didn't solve it, d say it has to do with the right front wheel speed sensor.

I'm trying to see if anyone would be familiar with these 3 lights and whether Infiniti was B.S.ing me about the fluid level. I've done what they say was the culprit and still have the issue. I pissed that the wife drove all the way out there for them to treat her like she was stupid. Now I have to go out there in the morning and hold their feet to the fire in order to make these lights go away.

ABS, VDC and the slip light are in fact all related. One failure in the braking system sensors (especially wheel speed sensors) could set all these lights. It is possible that low brake fluid could set these lights. In any case a good question for the dealer is: Why they didn’t top off the brake fluid and send your wife on her way with no trouble lights illuminated? Get this stuff fixed while you have warranty because ABS component can be pricey.

The most common issue with these systems is a failed wheel speed sensor. Often they get dirty from brake dust or connections are messed up from exposure to road debris. These wheel sensors and especially the wiring are exposed to road elements being they are mounted near the brakes / wheel hub to pick up signals from the tone rings. Regardless, dealer service will inspect and fix whatever is necessary – and don’t leave with those lights on. Good luck.

Confirmed that low brake fluid can set those lights. It is step one of inspection procedure in the brake control system service manual. Still once fluid is added you should be able to restart your car and the lights should be off. Also you need to check why brake fluid is low - are there leaks or have the brake pads worn down and need to be replaced?
