Does a stock KA24DE run better with a stock or nismo thermostat?

it runs a lot cooler with the nismo:).(143F vs ~170+ stock), it can mean good, or bad things.

my friends car(S14, stock mech fan, added waterwetter), sometimes the stock water temp gauge will try to go down of normal temp.(don't know exact readings as he broke our only consult board)

normally, cars are best at their optimal operating temp, the nismo t-stat is probably for those that run really high hp and the stock t-stat can't do enough, or for those that do auto-x or road racing.(but then it'd prolly be something else that can't hold it @ ~170 or 190F(don't remember stock temp)
